Overall, it is apparent that both tunnels were constructed to facilitate vehicular movement, with the latter surpassing the former in terms of length, depth, and financial investment. Moreover, the foundational composition of each differs markedly.

The tunnel completed in the time frame from 1986 to 1998 measures a length of 2.2 kilometers and is embedded 1.5 meters under a layer of sand. The cost incurred for its construction stood at $555 million which accommodates a bi-directional flow of traffic across two lanes on each side of the tunnels. In comparison, the second tunnel, which was built between 2002 and 2006, extends for 3.6 kilometers and delves to a depth of 2.5 meters into a substructure of stone and clay. This larger scale of construction was reflected in its cost, which reached a substantial $1.1 billion. The design, similar to the first, provides two tunnels but has one more lane compared to the one built earlier.
